Day 3 of the AgroTour International: A day dedicated to scientific work and skill-building
The third day of the 7th edition of AgroTour International focused on scientific work, marking a crucial stage in the exploration and discussion of agricultural issues in Africa. The day began with the continuation of the exhibitions, with a variety of stands representing different players in agricultural development, creating a platform rich in exchange and discovery.
The session opened with an inspiring presentation entitled “Inspire Me” by Yves Nyenyezy. He shared his perspectives on the livestock model in agriculture, highlighting the results achieved as well as the constraints encountered in this sector. The presentation sparked lively discussion and set the scene for the workshops that followed.
Thematic workshops then took over, offering participants the opportunity to delve into topics crucial to agricultural development in Africa. Topics covered included:
- Understanding the agricultural value chain in the East African Community (EAC): This workshop enabled participants to gain a better understanding of the different stages in the agricultural value chain, and to discuss strategies for optimizing each link.
- How can agribusiness help reduce poverty, youth unemployment and armed conflict in Africa? The discussions highlighted the strategic role of agribusiness in the socio-economic transformation of the continent, particularly in the fight against social ills.
- Agriculture’s place in Africa’s socio-economic development: This workshop explored the links between agriculture and sustainable development, highlighting the importance of modern agriculture in stimulating economic growth.
- Leveraging agricultural tourism for sustainable rural development: An innovative theme that highlighted the potential of agricultural tourism as a lever for rural development and a tool for income diversification.
At the end of the workshops, a wrap-up session enabled each group to present its conclusions, followed by a question-and-answer session that enriched the exchanges.
After a well-deserved break, the day resumed with a second “Inspire Me” session, presented by Caroline Kaaya. She shared her inspiring journey and successes as a farmer, offering a practical and motivating perspective to participants.
The day then moved on to two key panels:
- Capacity building in financial management and resource mobilization for agripreneurs: This panel, moderated by Mooris from the East African Community, highlighted strategies and tools for improving financial management in agricultural enterprises.
- The role of banking institutions in the development of agriculture in Africa: Representatives of Tanzania’s NMB Bank discussed the financial support and services offered by banks to stimulate agricultural development on the continent.
To round off a day rich in learning, a Masterclass on E-commerce and Digital Marketing was hosted by Yannick Nkayilu Salomon. He shared modern techniques for selling agricultural products online and gave practical advice on using social networks for effective marketing.
Thus, the third day of the AgroTour International not only delved into key topics for agricultural development in Africa, but also strengthened participants’ skills, opening up new perspectives for the future of the sector.
